Corpus Linguistics

I use corpus-based and computational approaches to examine language use across English and Korean, with interests in learner language, academic discourse, and disciplinary communication. I am also interested in developing corpus-informed resources for language teaching and research and in extending these approaches to less commonly taught languages.

I investigate how second language learners develop and use language across proficiency levels, time, tasks, and modalities, with attention to developmental patterns, variability, and individual learner trajectories.

I investigate how generative AI, speech technologies, and other computational tools can mediate language learning, feedback, interaction, and assessment.

I explore how AI can be used critically and responsibly in language education, with an emphasis on SLA theory, evidence-based practice, and the evaluation and verification of AI-generated feedback.
