Minjin Kim
I am an Assistant Professor of Second Language Studies, TESOL, and Korean in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures at Michigan State University. I serve as Director of the Korean Program and Co-Director of the Second Language Studies Corpus Lab. I earned my Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Pennsylvania State University.
My research focuses on corpus linguistics, second language acquisition, and language learning and technology, with a particular interest in generative AI. More broadly, I examine how second language learners use language and how their language develops over time, and I explore how computational methods and AI-assisted technologies can support language learning, teaching, research, and assessment, as well as how AI can be used critically and in research-informed ways in language education.
